Van Halen & Clear Gravy

After picking kiddo up Van Halen was on the radio… Right Now.  One of the songs I’d picked for the funeral slide show.  John was a HUGE Van Halen fan.  I never knew what his favorite song was, but I know he would have approved of me picking Van Halen for his viewing.

Here’s a link to “Right Now” if you’re not familiar with it.

After the song the DJ said that the song had been used in a Clear Pepsi commercial many years ago.

Apparently, Saturday Night Live (SNL) did a parody on the Clear Pepsi commercial and created “Clear Gravy.”  The DJ said the skit was hilarious.  I thought John’s comment would have been “Back when “Saturday Night Live” used to be funny.”  In our opinons SNL used to be hilarious… so many comedy greats came from there, but lately  when we’d turn on the TV to watch it… it was a WTF were they thinking kind of show and very un-funny.  Of course, I haven’t turned on SNL since John was alive, so hey, maybe it’s funny again…

Anyhow… I had to look up the Clear Gravy skit…

About Mary K. Smith

I was widowed in July 2009, when I lost my beloved husband, John, to melanoma. Cancer SUCKS. We have a young son who was just a year old when his father died. I live on a small farm in Maryland which is home to horses, cats, and a dog. I started this blog as a way for me to heal, a way to remember my husband, and eventually I'd like to share it with our son so he can see the love that his father had for him, the love that we had for each other, what a great person his father was, and how hard his father fought to live.
