Funny how a day can have happy and sad memories

February 9th

Today, my nephew turned SIX years old!  Hard to believe that six years I was so looking forward to his entrance into this world!  He’s a bright boy and quite a character.

Today, also marked the day that I made the humane decision to end Toby (aka Stray Grey’s) suffering.  He’d presumably been mortally injured by a raccoon.  Over the years Toby had became a dear friend and beloved cat even I couldn’t pet him.  I’d touched him a few times, but his fear, apprehension, and distrust caused me to not pursue the interactions further.  Better to be friends from a distance than cause fear from too close contact.  I’ve already posted the story of Toby- https://leakycreek.wordpress.com/2009/11/18/stray-grey-aka-toby/

Happy Birthday, Thomas!  RIP Toby

About Mary K. Smith

I was widowed in July 2009, when I lost my beloved husband, John, to melanoma. Cancer SUCKS. We have a young son who was just a year old when his father died. I live on a small farm in Maryland which is home to horses, cats, and a dog. I started this blog as a way for me to heal, a way to remember my husband, and eventually I'd like to share it with our son so he can see the love that his father had for him, the love that we had for each other, what a great person his father was, and how hard his father fought to live.
