"John" ornament 12-5-10

I’m still not in the Christmas spirit… I’ve tried listening to Christmas music… nothing… not even that silly goofy, “I want an Hippopotamus for Christmas.”  I’ve looked at lights… pretty… but nothing…  I went to Longwood Gardens- again BEAUTIFUL, but nothing… We still don’t have our tree up… I  don’t want to put it up, but I should for kiddo.  I’ve done a little shopping, but don’t intend to do much.

I have about zero talent in the craft/art department.  The only thing that I’m known for is my cinnamon ornaments.  Last year, I made ornaments for all of the Annapolis firefighters in memory of John and hand delivered them.  My friend and her daughter helped make them.  This year, we decided to get together again and make ornaments.  Nathaniel & her daughter had a blast.  It was great to see them having fun.  Kiddo looked like he’d worked in a cinnamon mine…

As we were making them, my friend suggested that we put “John” on one of the angels.  Perfect.

I’m still not in the Christmas spirit, but I think I need to put up the tree.  The perfect ornament needs a place to hang this Christmas.

About Mary K. Smith

I was widowed in July 2009, when I lost my beloved husband, John, to melanoma. Cancer SUCKS. We have a young son who was just a year old when his father died. I live on a small farm in Maryland which is home to horses, cats, and a dog. I started this blog as a way for me to heal, a way to remember my husband, and eventually I'd like to share it with our son so he can see the love that his father had for him, the love that we had for each other, what a great person his father was, and how hard his father fought to live.
