Photo a Day 12-11-10 & 12-12-10

Apparently I forgot to put up Saturday’s photo of the day… well… Saturday’s & Sunday’s are sort of related…

"Bye Bye, ladies" 12-11-10

Shirley and Rosie heading to their owner’s farm.

It has truly been a pleasure having them. They’ve enriched my life and I’ll miss them.

Then, I was about to pick up the phone to call and make sure the ponies had arrived safely, when my friend called. She told me that she had a heavy heart and she should have left Rosie. She offered to give her to me.

I missed Rosie.  My dog and stallion were melancholy.  Rosie is the perfect pony to teach Nathaniel about horsemanship.  She also has a perfect resume for the “Grand ‘ol Mare position” which has been vacant since July 7th.

My old trainer offered to haul her for me… which leads me to today’s photo of the day…

"Christmas Pony" Rosie 12-12-10

Yesterday she was in the trailer leaving. Today, she came back… to stay.

About Mary K. Smith

I was widowed in July 2009, when I lost my beloved husband, John, to melanoma. Cancer SUCKS. We have a young son who was just a year old when his father died. I live on a small farm in Maryland which is home to horses, cats, and a dog. I started this blog as a way for me to heal, a way to remember my husband, and eventually I'd like to share it with our son so he can see the love that his father had for him, the love that we had for each other, what a great person his father was, and how hard his father fought to live.
